Golden showers and our national values

Combat ignorance. Read.

I don’t know if it is true or not. And neither do you.

But could we take a moment and think about this?  What really offends you more? Titillating stories of prostitutes and liquid human waste?  Or bragging about sexual assault? Advocating the murder of family members of suspected terrorists?  Advocating torture? Calling Mexican rapists? Demonizing the 23% of humanity who follow the Islamic faith?  Mocking the disabled? Bullying the father of a fallen war hero?  Or the mounting evidence that the Russian government intervened in our electoral process?

Or the appointments which are about to hit the Senate? The climate-change denier, with fossil fuel interests, leading our national energy policy? An Attorney General who, 30 years ago, was considered too racist to serve as a federal judge? An Education Secretary who disdains public education?  Goldman Sacs running the Treasury?

Oh. I would love to see him crash and burn.  The bully, who has ruthlessly attacked others, being taken down by his own arrogance and poor judgement.

But there would be consequences, or course. A Pence presidency would certainly strip away decades of progress towards women’s rights. Our control of our bodies. LGBT rights. Human rights.

So let’s not get distracted. Let’s focus on the issues. The real issues. The facts. The appointments. Then the policies. The laws that will live on for generations.  We need to stay vigilant. Pay attention to the appointment hearings. Pay attention to the legislation. Contact our representatives often.

We have a lot of work to do. We can take a moment to giggle or cringe. But let’s not be distracted from the real issues we face as a nation.
